Serving on the patrol is an honor as well as a responsibility. Students who undertake this important position are expected to fulfill their duties in a mature, Christian way. Seeing to the safety of all other St. Paul’s students at arrival and dismissal time and the care and presentation of the United States Flag is the basis for our school patrol activities, as well as courtesy, and dependability. Keeping in mind the serious nature of this service, only students who demonstrate good citizenship, good conduct and keep their grades up will be permitted to serve on the school patrol.
Parents will share in the responsibility of bringing their child to school by 7:35 a.m. when they have flag duty and picking them up at 3:05 p.m. when they have afternoon duty. If your child is ill or will miss their scheduled patrol shift, it is their responsibility to let the teacher in charge of Patrol know they will be absent.
School Safety Patrol membership is an honored position. Millions of students have served since the program originated in our country around 1920. Since then, the casualty rate among children age 5-14 has decreased significantly. Patrols have played an important role in this achievement.
